Does Coolsculpting Work? Manchester Based Coolsculpting Treatments

Does Coolsculpting really work?

Is Cryostar Slimming better?

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical fat freezing, body contouring procedure that uses controlled cooling to reduce stubborn fat pockets in certain areas of the body. The Coolsculpting treatment aims to target and eliminate fat cells by exposing them to cold temperatures, causing them to crystallize and eventually be naturally eliminated by the body.

CoolSculpting has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the reduction of fat in specific areas, such as the abdomen, flanks (love handles), inner and outer thighs, double chin, and upper arms. Coolsculpting has gained popularity as a non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures like liposuction.

While CoolSculpting can be effective in reducing targeted fat deposits, it’s important to note that individual results can really vary. Some people may see noticeable improvements after a single treatment, while others may require multiple sessions to achieve desired results and don’t people don’t really see any results. Additionally, CoolSculpting is not intended for weight loss but rather for spot reduction of stubborn fat.

Coolsculpting work by using various handles to suck/vacuum in your fat into the handle and essentially freeze fat cells at minus -11 degrees. The issue found with coolculpting has been a very small amount of users being left with ‘blocks’ of frozen fat that don’t go back down. This is a complication called “paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH)” or, in layman’s terms, the “stick of butter” effect. You can read more about a case with super model Linda Evangelista here. Linda experienced this and went to the media saying it ruined her body. This is a risk associated with Coolsculpting as it vacuums fat into its machine. This is why The Laser Club prefers cryostar – a treatment  that uses a cryo handle which is contently moving and massaging the fat to freeze it rather than keeping it in one place. It way more manual than Coolsculpting but guess what?! It’s also way cheaper.

Coolsculpting vs Cryostar Slimming

CoolSculpting and CryoStar are both non-invasive body contouring treatments that use controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells. While they have similarities in their approach, there are some differences between the two.

  1. Technology: CoolSculpting and CryoStar use different technologies to deliver controlled cooling. CoolSculpting uses a patented cooling method called cryolipolysis (fat freezing), which selectively freezes fat cells without damaging the surrounding tissues. CryoStar, on the other hand, utilizes a combination of cold therapy and massage to target fat cells using a wand rather than a vacuum.
  2. Treatment Areas: CoolSculpting has been widely used for treating several areas of the body, including the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, chin, and upper arms. CryoStar can treat even more areas than Coolsculpting as it’s a wand technique so can be moved around and used almost on any idea unlike the Coolsculpting machine that can only ‘grab’ onto certain areas.
  3. Procedure: CoolSculpting typically involves placing a vacuum-like applicator on the treatment area, which draws in the fatty tissue and applies controlled cooling. The procedure is generally comfortable, and patients can relax during the treatment. CryoStar uses a handheld device that emits the super cold temperatures while massaging the target area, which some individuals may find more comfortable and more relaxing. You are also getting what feels like a lymphatic drainage massage from Cryostar at the same time.
  4. Treatment Duration and Results: The treatment duration can vary depending on the size and number of areas being treated. CoolSculpting sessions usually last around 35-60 minutes per treatment area, and multiple sessions may be required to achieve the desired results. CryoStar treatment duration can vary but is often shorter than CoolSculpting normally at just 20 minutes per session per area. The drawback with Cryostar is that you can only have 1 area done at one time with 1 technician so 2 areas (ie both legs) would take 40 minutes 20 each side.  Results from both treatments are not immediate and gradually become noticeable over several weeks as the body naturally eliminates the targeted fat cells.
  5. Clinician Expertise: The expertise of the clinician performing the treatment is crucial for both CoolSculpting and CryoStar. It’s important to choose a reputable clinic with qualified professionals who have experience in performing these procedures to ensure safe and effective treatment.

It’s worth noting that while both treatments can reduce fat in targeted areas, they are not intended as weight-loss solutions. They are most effective for individuals who are close to their ideal weight but have stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Costs

  • Coolculpting per session: £500-700
  • Cryostar per session: £150

Both machines will help you lose around 15-20% of the targeted fat per area per session and essentially have the same outcome.
