What happens during teeth whitening treatment in Dublin?

The first step in the teeth whitening process is the application of teeth whitening trays.

Laser light is then used to activate the whitening gels. Our Dublin clinic is equipped with 3rd-generation 36Watt AURA lasers, one of the most powerful teeth-whitening lasers available, always giving superior results.

Your lips and gums are protected during the whitening appointment so that only your teeth are exposed to the laser.

The process can remove the legacy of red wine, coffee and cola from your stained teeth, restoring the natural colour of your pearly white smile.

How many shades lighter will my teeth?

You can expect immediate results with a much whiter smile after your first 60-minute treatment.

Typically stained teeth can lighten up to 12 shades whiter after treatment. Normally 6-7 shades on average.

It is important to note that the natural colour of the teeth varies between individuals and is dependent on the mineral content of your tooth enamel. Although tooth whitening treatments can remove discolouration they cannot change the natural colour of your teeth.

How many teeth whitening sessions will I need?

Our clients are usually delighted with their white smiles and have achieved their desired shade after their first session.

We advise a follow up second session the same week to remove all stains and achieve the best and longest-lasting whitening results but this is not always needed.

If your teeth are heavily stained, you may require more whitening treatments than average.

Our Dublin teeth whitening clients like to keep their white smile with top-up whitening treatments every few months for those photo ready moments!

Is laser teeth whitening painful?

The teeth whitening gels used at other clinics can be painful because they contain hydrogen peroxide, which causes tooth sensitivity.

Our whitening gels are specifically formulated to cause zero sensitivity to the teeth and mouth area.

Is there any downtime after teeth whitening treatment with lasers?

There is no downtime but we do suggest some precautions to our Dublin clients after they have laser teeth whitening treatments.

It is a good idea to avoid eating or drinking any food or drinks that stain the teeth for a couple of days before and after whitening teeth. These include coffee, tea, red wine, cola, curries and tomato-based sauces.

Laser Teeth Whitening Dublin FAQ’s

What is laser teeth whitening?

Laser teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment that involves a whitening gel within a mould, and then using a laser to activate the product. This will lift stains off of the teeth, making them whiter and brighter. The procedure is usually completed in around an hour.

How long does it take to see results?

Clients will be able to see results straight after treatment and they can further develop for a number of hours afterwards. Some clients may need multiple teeth whitening sessions to achieve to the desired shade.

Is the treatment painful?

Laser teeth whitening is not a painful process. After the procedure, some patients may experience very slight sensitivity although this is extremely rare.

Is laser teeth whitening safe?

This self-administered appointment is overseen by trained professionals and is completely safe. When administered correctly, laser teeth whitening does not cause any damage to the enamel of the teeth. Laser teeth whitening is also safe for patients who already have sensitive teeth.

What results can be expected from the procedure?

The difference in teeth shade after whitening will vary from person to person. Many factors can affect the results, including genetics and the current state of the teeth. The treatment may need multiple sessions but can whiten teeth anywhere from 2 to 16 shades lighter the average brightening being around 7-8 shades.

How long do the results last?

How long whitening results last will depend on multiple factors. Practicing correct oral hygiene habits, avoiding foods and beverages that are known to cause teeth staining, such as coffee and tea, and quitting smoking can help ensure longer-lasting results. It is recommended that patients brush with whitening toothpaste after every meal to avoid further staining.

It is possible that whitening results can last anywhere from months to a year, but many patients find they will need further whitening sessions to achieve and maintain the level of whitening that is desired.
