Ulike Hand Held Home Laser Hair Removal IPL device VS professional Laser Hair Removal machines

Do hand held home machines work for laser hair removal?

At The Laser Club we know there is so many options for laser hair removal. A new viral trend is taking over and that is – at home laser hair removal devices.

So, the question is – are home laser hair removal machines worth it? Do these machines really work?

There are plenty brands to choose from when it comes to at home laser hair removal machines.

Lets look at the most popular viral machine currently available – the ULIKE air 10 model.

ULIKE Laser hair removal device

Ulike Air 10

Ulike Air 10 model is around £300 to buy

Pros:

  • Ulike gives Fairly good results initially
  • Convenient to use at home
  • Cheap (ish) to buy

Cons:

  • Must use your Ulike machine 3-4 times per week to begin with. Possibly as much as you would normally shave – time consuming
  • Ulike Takes around an hour to do all areas ‘full body’ laser removal and needs various passes over each area
  • Very difficult not having help to do certain awkward areas such as Hollywood or perianal
  • Returns process flawed and many cannot return their machines when they find out they don’t work as well as they expect
  • Ulike is said to put the hair to sleep, once you stop – the hair comes back in most cases.
  • Gets very hot, to the point its hard to handle

What are people saying online about the ULIKE machine?

Whilst we did of course find good reviews, it is obvious that some people may be paid to discuss the unit on forums such as reddit etc. Big companies will often pay reviewers and commentors to positively promote and discuss their products to ensure sales.

The Ulike machine seems to work okay for some and not for others. Although, short term results.

So, how does the Ulike compare to professional laser hair removal at a professional skin and laser clinic?

Ulike’s power output is up to 20jls which is 20 watts of power. Compare this to the Primelase machine by Sinclair medical and this machine is a 5000W machine. The power difference is huge. Hair removal works by heat/power to the hair follicle which essentially kills the hair follicle, so if there isn’t enough power in the machine, the hair follicles are likely put to sleep and thus not permanently removed.

Home laser hair removal devices are said to often put hair to sleep, so initial results seem good but can you really be bothered to use the machine for an hour 3-4 times per week? What is that time worth to you and what does it cost you?

Full body laser hair removal at a professional salon will typically cost £900-1250 for a package of 6 sessions. With the Primelase laser hair removal machine, each session can be as fast as 30 minutes every 6 weeks. This is permanent removal of hair follicles.

At all four of our clinics across the UK and Ireland, we pride ourselves on using the world’s strongest medical grade laser hair removal machine – the Prime Lase. We chose this machine as the advanced technology ensures faster, more effective treatments compared to the lower-powered IPL devices you can use at home. The PrimeLase offers:

  • Higher Energy Output: This translates to more effective hair removal in fewer sessions.
  • Precision: Targeting the hair follicle more accurately, reducing the risk of skin damage.
  • Speed: Faster treatment times due to the powerful and efficient delivery of laser energy, we can have your full body head to toe laser done in just 45 minutes.
  • Pain-Free: Due to its cooling tip, you can expect a comfortable, pain free treatment

At-home IPL devices will always require frequent treatments over extended periods, if not forever, to maintain results and are much less effective at reducing hair growth permanently. In contrast, our clients experience permanent reduction in hair growth after just a few sessions.

While at-home IPL devices may seem convenient and at the beginning, cost-effective, they come with several drawbacks:

  • Lower Power: IPL devices are less powerful than professional lasers, making them less effective and requiring more frequent use, forever.
  • Safety Concerns: Without professional training, there’s a higher risk of misuse, which can lead to burns, skin irritation, and uneven results.
  • Limited Efficacy: IPL is less effective on certain hair and skin types, often yielding subpar results compared to professional laser treatments, where as at The Laser Club, we are able to treat all skin tones and types.

At The Laser Club we ensure that every client receives the best possible care. Our friendly, professional and welcoming staff, provide a comfortable and personalized experience, helping you achieve the smooth, hair-free skin you desire with minimal hassle.

When it comes to hair removal, the choice between professional laser treatments and at-home IPL devices is clear. At The Laser Club, we can guarantee you results with our state-of-the art technology and expert staff. Don’t settle for the uncertainties and limitations of at-home devices. Book your consultation at one of our clinics today and experience the benefits of professional laser hair removal for yourself.
